Two hermits made of German porcelain from Rudolstadt (Thuringia) depict two hermit monks: one carrying a basket of provisions and a goose, and the other in prayer, with a Bible and a skull at his feet.
These pieces were made around 1880–1900.
A blue mark on the base: a crowned “N.”
Period: 19th century. .
Condition: as found; one figure has a minor, shallow chip on a rear corner and a very faint hair-like mark on the edge of the cloak (see photos).
Height: 16.1 cm.
Base: 6.7 x 5.7 cm.
Weight of both monks: 718 grams.
