In violetwood and rosewood marquetry featuringmotifs of bouquets of flowers in boxwood, maple, and exotic woods withinscalloped frames.
The front is curved and opens to reveal two drawers without a crossbar.
The side panels and legs are also curved.
Beautiful gilded bronze ornamentation; the drawerhandles feature rocaille motifs.
The top is crowned with its period marble
The period locks operate with their original key
Restored by our cabinetmaker, a “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” andcertified by the Museums of France.

Pierre ROUSSEL (1723–1782)
He was admitted as a Master Cabinetmaker in 1745.
Thanks to his skills as a cabinetmaker and, above all, as an outstanding marquetry artist, hequickly gained widespread renown.
In 1762, he became a juror for his guild.By 1767, he was considered one of the greatest cabinetmakers of his time,a fact confirmed by the *Almanach d’indication générale ou du Vray Mérite*of 1769, which cites him as one of the leading cabinetmakers in Paris.
Highly regarded by his peers, he became a representative of the cabinetmakers’ guildin 1777, then its president two years later.
His prolific and varied works embraced all the styles of the18th century with elegance and refinement...
Numerous Louis XV chests of drawers, veneered with rosewood or violetwood,are decorated with marquetry depicting flowers or ribbon bows.
The inventory of his goods, compiled after his death, attests to the prosperityof his business.
