About the history of theporcelain maker: Jacob Petit (1796–1868), also known as Jacob Mardochée,was a renowned 19th-century French porcelain maker whose careerbegan as a porcelain painter. After establishing a solidreputation in the field, he founded his own porcelain manufactory inFontainebleau around 1830. His artistic style, influenced by the Rococo, ischaracterized by whimsical forms, vibrant colors, and elaboratedecorations. Throughout his career, he created a wide variety of pieces,including vases, statuettes, clocks, and toiletries.Despite some criticism regarding the exuberance of his works, Jacob Petitenjoyed great success among the 19th-century bourgeoisie, who soughtrefinement and luxury. Today, his artistic contribution and hiscraftsmanship are recognized and appreciated by collectors and art loversin the market.
