Pair Of Cobalt-blue And Gilded Bronze Porcelain Cassole Vases – Charles X Period, 1830

An elegant pair of baluster-shaped ornamental vases, made of porcelain with a deep cobalt-blue glaze, richly mounted with gilded bronze that has been chiseled and patinated.

Each vase features a flared neck encircled by a band decorated with gadroons and palmette motifs, surmounted by a beaded frieze. The tall, openwork handles, with their beautiful fluid lines, unfurl into broad, leaf-adorned volutes and are attached to the body by delicate clasps decorated with acanthus leaves.

The ovoid bodies, crafted from midnight blue porcelain, rest on a fluted pedestal and then on a stepped, architecturally designed base with a dynamic profile, embellished with a frieze of foliage. The set reflects the refined neoclassical taste of the Charles X period, combining the depth of cobalt blue with the warm luster of gilded bronze.
