Important Louis XV Headboard In Carved And Gilded Wood, 18th Century
A grand and elegant headboard made of richly carved and gilded wood, upholstered in red velvet.
This remarkable piece features a particularly refined Rococo design composed of broad scrolls, leafy tendrils, carved flowers, and asymmetrical clasps characteristic of the Louis XV style.
The composition is crowned by a large openwork pediment centered on a blooming flower, lending the piece exceptional movement and decorative presence.
The carvings demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship; note a few missing pieces, previous restorations, and a beautiful patina of age that lend it great charm and authenticity. All of this contributes to the character of this 18th-century piece.
Ideal for a beautiful residence, a mansion, a castle, or a high-end interior design project.
The headboard was recently reupholstered in red velvet, which particularly highlights the warmth of the antique gilding.
The variations visible in the photos are solely due to the natural sheen of the velvet, which changes depending on the lighting and the direction of the fabric’s nap; they are by no means stains.
