19th Century Reliquary Relic St Joachim + Document Coa

Devotional reliquary from the 19th century containing a relic of:

Saint Joachim

The relic is carefully preserved beneath glass and accompanied by its original ecclesiastical Certificate of Authenticity (COA). The document is signed by His Eminence Cardinal Engelbert Sterckx, Archbishop of Mechelen, Belgium, providing an exceptional level of provenance and ecclesiastical authentication for the relic.

The reverse of the reliquary displays an intact red wax episcopal seal, along with red silk threads, which assure the authenticity of the relic’s ecclesiastical origin. These elements remain undisturbed, affirming the relic’s preserved and original condition.

Saint Joachim is traditionally honored as the father of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the grandfather of Jesus Christ. Although his life is not recorded in the canonical Gospels, his story has been preserved through early Christian tradition, particularly the Protoevangelium of James. According to this tradition, Joachim and his wife, Saint Anne, were noted for their piety and faithfulness, and after years of childlessness were blessed with the birth of Mary, who would become the Mother of Christ.
