Katsuyuki Nishijima was born in 1945 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. He studied woodblock printing at the Mikumo Publishing Company studio in Kyoto. From 1965 to 1970, he exhibited with the Kyoto Independents artist group, and since then he has regularly participated in group and solo exhibitions.
