Pair Of Apothecary Jars – Antique Earthenware – Louis XIV / Regence Period
A superb pair of French earthenware apothecary cannon pots, dating from Louis XIV or Regence period.
These two baluster-shaped pots, whose mouths were thought at the time to resemble those of a cannon—hence their name—on a pedestal.
Decorated in shades of blue on white background, typical of French antique provincial faience, with floral motifs and decorative borders. Untitled, but highly decorative.
Note the potter’s finger prints inside.
Good overall condition despite their age: No breakage, no cracks, slight normal signs of wear under bases.
Dimensions: Height: 22 cm and 20 cm, Diameter: 12 cm and 11 cm;
Origin: France – Burgundian earthenware…
