Francisco Borès was a Spanish painter associated with the New School of Paris. In 1916, he enrolled at Cecilio Pla’s academy, where he remained for three years.
In 1925, he moved to Paris and settled in Montparnasse, where he met Pablo Picasso and Juan Gris.
In 1940, Borès moved to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, where he met Henri Matisse on a daily basis. Matisse’s influence on Borès’s work during this period is particularly noticeable.
