18th-century George III Period Octagonal Mahogany Tripod Table

Fine 18th-Century George III Period Octagonal Mahogany Tripod Table

A handsome late 18th-century George III period mahogany octagonal tripod table. It features a well-figured single piece of solid mahogany top, above a turned baluster-form column. This fine-quality Georgian table stands on well-drawn, outswept cabriole legs, retaining a good original color and patina. The joints are solid and the construction reassuringly sound, reflecting the quality of 18th-century craftsmanship. England, circa 1790.
Unrestored surfaces of this quality are increasingly rare. The table’s original finish, rich color, and enticing patina give it a timeless allure and a wonderful sense of history, allowing it to sit equally well in a period setting or a more contemporary interior as a characterful focal point.
