Louis Vuitton
Artist: Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton "Malle Chapeau" hat box, Paris, circa 1895.
These elegant hat boxes were available in eight sizes and various grades, capable of holding up to sixteen large hats and four small ones.
The Damier canvas was invented in 1888, one year before the Eiffel Tower. At the beginning of the 20th century, with the advent of impregnated canvas, this pattern—originally made of fabric—retained the trompe-l’œil effect of a woven tapestry.

The entire insert, with its inscription, is intact and in good condition. Unfortunately, the upper insert is stained, as is the fabric lining. A small portion of the outer lining is also missing, and the fabric has a few tears.
The key is nevertheless present, as are the label and the serial number on the inside. All the rivets are stamped "Louis Vuitton," as is the fabric lining.
The lock is signed, and the entire piece is authentic.
A collector's item in perfect condition, but in need of restoration—unless, of course, you choose to keep it as is, with its signs of age.
