Irenee Rochard (1906-1984) was born in Villefranche sur Saône and trained at the Beaux-Arts and Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Known for his sculptures in bronze, regule, reconstituted marble in the Art Deco style, he is one of the major representatives of XXᵉ century animal sculpture.
