Louis XVI Period Chest Of Drawers Stamped Ancellet
Artist: Denis-louis Ancellet
Elegant Louis XVI period commode from the second half of the 18th century. It bears the stamp of Denis -Louis ANCELLET, who was awarded the title of master cabinetmaker on December 3, 1766, and whose creations are appreciated for the quality of their execution and the harmony of their proportions. His stamp was sometimes associated with that of Adam Weisseiller, which proves that the two cabinetmakers may have worked together.
This chest of drawers has a sober front, opens with four drawers and rests on four tapered legs with fluted uprights.
It is covered with its original veined grey marble.
In 1791, when Louis XVI had the Château de Saint Cloud refurbished for the court, Denis Louis ANCELLET received a large order for some sixty pieces of furniture from the Garde Meuble.
Our chest of drawers has a beautiful waxed varnish finish.
