19th Century Provencal Walnut Radassier Bench Seat
PROVENCAL RADASSIER IN WALNUT
Restoration period, circa 1820-1830
Rare and important solid walnut Provencal radassier from the Restoration period.
Outstandingly elegant, this large Provencal banquette displays the characteristics of southern furniture from the first third of the XIXᵉ century. The wide scrolled armrests, the sober, balanced lines and the quality of the walnut used bear witness to meticulous craftsmanship destined for a home in fine condition.
The long, openwork backrest accompanies a vast seat mulched in the Provencal tradition. The warm patina of walnut, acquired over the course of two centuries, highlights the purity of its lines and the excellence of its craftsmanship.
With its generous dimensions, this radassier was an emblematic piece of reception furniture in the Provencal art of living. Today, it appeals as much to collectors of regional furniture as to decorators in search of an authentic, timeless piece.
The set is preserved in beautiful condition, with its traditional mulching and a particularly attractive antique patina.
