Charles Jacques JACQUINOT
Under the First Empire, he took part in the Battle of Austerlitz, then became Colonel of the 1er chasseurs à cheval. Brigadier general in 1809, he fought at Abensberg and Wagram, before taking part in the campaigns of Russia (in particular at Moskova), Germany (where he became division general) and France. During the Hundred Days, he commanded two cavalry divisions with which he confronted the English at Waterloo, defeating General Ponsonby's cavalry.
Elevated to the dignity of Peer de France in 1837 and Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor in 1844, he died in Metz on April 24, 1848 at the age of 75.
