Rare gold lorgnette, ram's head hallmark.
It opens to four draws.
The very finely chased body in rose and green gold features a decoration of flowers and fruit in relief.
It is signed Lemière, Palais Royal, N° 26.
This precious lorgnette is preserved in its red morocco case lined with Empire velvet.

Lemiere was a Parisian optician and inventor of the early 19th century.

He was established in the Palais Royal, the center of luxury boutiques.
He sold theatrical lorgnettes, long sights and was a pioneer of focusable theatrical binoculars.

Our model features several ram's head hallmarks, a mark of gold between 1819 and 1838.
