Joop Plasmeijer (b. 1942) is a self-taught Dutch painter associated with the naive realism movement. His colorful, imaginative works often depict lively urban scenes, picturesque villages and dreamlike worlds rich in detail, imbued with great harmony.
Plasmeijer began painting in the late 1960s and quickly gained notoriety, not least thanks to several awards at the prestigious Talens Prize. His work has been widely exhibited and features in important collections devoted to Dutch naive art.
