Pierre-Paul-Léon Glaize was first a pupil of his father, the painter Auguste-Barthélemy Glaize. He entered Jean-Léon Gérôme's studio at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris on March 31, 1863. He won a second Prix de Rome for painting in 1866. He made his debut at the 1869 Salon. He won numerous medals.
