Maurice Eliot - Young Woman In A Park - Pastel
Artist: Maurice Eliot (1862-1945)
Circa 1901
Pastel
56.5×48.2 cm (sheet) / 63.5×55.2 cm framed
Anti-reflective anti-uv museum glass
---
Visible on RV in Boulogne-Billancourt
---
This luminous pastel is probably the one seen in the artist's studio on a photograph published in 1904 in "La Revue illustrée". Kept by Maurice Eliot until the end of his life, it can be compared with his painting "Jeunes filles au parc" (1901), of which it is probably a preparatory study.
His shimmering palette and vibrant light explain why the artist's pastels were often referred to as "impressionistic" by the critics of his day.
