Russia, circa 1849. Pair of silver and silver-gilt ceremonial table spoons, with flat handle and spatula curving slightly downwards, decorated on both sides with fine engraved foliate scrollwork on a guilloche ground. The reverse of the spoon features a rich gilded decoration, engraved on a guilloché background, executed with trompe-l'œil elements, in perfect harmony with the decoration on the spatula and handle.
