Mid-19th Century Plaster Bust Of Lorenzo The Magnificent
An elegant painted plaster bust depicting Lorenzo de' Medici, known as "the Magnificent" (1449–1492). The bust evokes the well-known portraits and features of the great ruler of Florence; he is portrayed with a pensive, austere expression, a prominent nose, half-closed eyes, and thick, long hair. The piece is further refined by the black-painted motifs adorning his attire—a repeating pattern of small Florentine lilies (fleurs-de-lis). This is a work of great taste and quality, capable of adding a touch of elegance and a sense of antiquity to any setting. Florentine craftsmanship, mid-19th century.
