Vosges Landscape By Léon Barotte, Oil On Canvas.
A pupil of Henri Zuber, Albert Larteau and Edmond Petitjean, he began his career as a decorator, then, on the advice of Eugène Corbin, turned to painting. He exhibited at the Nancy and Remiremont Salons until 1913 and, from 1912, at the Salon des artistes français, of which he became a member. He also presented landscapes at the Salon des indépendants between 1926 and 1930.
In 1936 a retrospective of his work was held at the Galerie Thiébault in Nancy.
Pure landscapes, rich pictorial matter, the painter is at the peak of his maturity.
