Pair Of Candlesticks, Milan, Ca. 1750
Pair of candlesticks made of carved Swiss pine, white lacquered and partially gilded, supported by a cylindrical shaft. Composed of large opposing “C”-shaped volutes, they are carved with scrolls and leaf motifs, embellished with a flowering branch descending from the upper corolla, which serves as a holder for the candle. Above the two lamps is a plate made of perforated and gilded sheet iron.
