Tiny: English Birmingham Papier Mâché Patch Box, Late 18th Century

(patch box), England, late 18thᵉ century, lacquered ("japanned") papier-mâché body, gilt metal ornate lid - attributable to the workshop of Henry Clay or his school, Birmingham.
Oval-shaped, with fitted lid, guilloché gilded brass mounting, lacquered papier-mâché body (a composite material of sheets of paper glued together in layers, then oiled, varnished and kiln-hardened, making it strong and stable}, produced in Birmingham (circa 1780-1800); Henry Clay's process.
The lid is inlaid of silver, (a few slight lacks), centre highlights the oval of azoned agate.
Good condition, opens and closes correctly, some wear on black background ;
