Dry Bar
Artist: Carlo De Carli
A rare piece of rolling in-between bar furniture known as the Dry Bar Cart, an emblematic creation by the celebrated Milanese architect and designer Carlo di Carli (1910-1999) for the prestigious Italian publisher FARM (Scorzè), circa 1960/1965.
This piece is distinguished by its masterful use of thermoformed bentwood, the publisher's specialty, offering lines of fluid, organic purity. Designed to be both functional and mobile, it is mounted on original castors discreetly concealed beneath its base, allowing it to be easily moved around a living room.
Two large curved doors open onto suspended semicircular shelves, fitted with original silver-plated metal protection clamps to secure glasses and decanters.
The front opens with a flap fitted with an articulated mechanical compass. It reveals a generous white-lacquered central box, specially designed to store bottles standing upright in complete safety.
In the lower section, a large invisible drawer fits harmoniously into the plinth for storing bar accessories.
The back of the unit benefits from the same neat veneer as the front, so this bar can be used in the center of a room or at the end of a sofa.
Materials: blond walnut veneer, laminate/white lacquered serving surfaces, original compass and screws.
Excellent overall condition, smooth mechanics, functional castors. Slight oxidation on the hinge metal in keeping with its age (see photo).
