Expressionist painter of landscapes, portraits and genre scenes.
Born in Paris on November 11, 1904, Rodolphe Caillaux died in December 1989. He is particularly renowned for his paintings of landscapes, bullfighters and the port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Working in oil or thick gouache, his style is characterized by great intensity, marked density and expressive force. His robust compositions, while remaining figurative, reflect a resolutely expressionist sensibility.
