Jewelry Box Napoleon Lll Boulle Marquetry Atr Alphonse Giroux
Rare Napoleon III jewelry box attributed to the house of Alphonse Giroux, from the second half of the 19th century.
This remarkable box features sumptuous Boulle-style marquetry combined with cedar burr veneer, highlighted with precious fillets and finely chased brass inlays. The lid is centered with an elegant monogrammed cartouche in a rich Louis XV-inspired décor. The front opens with an integrated drawer and the whole rests on small turned feet.
.The interior, particularly refined, is dressed in opaline blue including a mirror under the lid as well as a removable compartmentalized tray intended for jewelry and precious objects. This contrast between the blackened ebony, the flamboyant burr and the intense blue of the interior bears witness to the luxury characteristic of Parisian Second Empire production.
The quality of workmanship, the refinement of materials and the highly elaborate design allow us to attribute this box to the famous Alphonse Giroux house, supplier to the imperial court and renowned for its luxury objects and refined necessities.
Very fine overall condition with beautiful fresh varnish and exceptionally preserved interior.
