Drapers'aune Signed Jc Hars Dated 1833
Magnificent draper's aune with handle in two turned woods.
Nice marquetry work bearing the inscription "J*C*HARS*1833*", which probably corresponds to the owner's initials and name.
Aune not graduated but featuring nice engraved markings.
Nota: Decorated aunes generally belonged to well-established master drapers or tailors; they served as a measuring tool but also as a sign of professional status and prestige.
The length is interesting as less than that of the official Paris aune (approx. 1.188 m). It could therefore correspond either to a regional auger or a prestige portable model.
