Small Louis XVI Style Marquetry Living Room Cabinet - Early 20th Century
This elegant little piece of Louis XVI furniture, in rosewood and mahogany marquetry, captivates with its balanced proportions and fine decoration. It is topped with a delicately veined pinkish-orange breche marble, encircled by a groove. The front opens onto a waisted drawer adorned with a rosewood fillet and a finely chased bronze laurel wreath drawer ring, a motif emblematic of the Neoclassical style. Beneath this drawer, a wide central niche offers elegant, practical storage or display space. The lower part of the cabinet features a door decorated with an oval marquetry in light and stained wood, depicting a delicate vase of flowers, a tribute to the floral compositions of the period. The marquetry underscores the quality of the cabinetwork and adds an extra touch of refinement. The uprights, meanwhile, are enriched at the top with handsome bronze falls, adding sparkle and verticality to the ensemble. The interior is exceptionally finished in white Carrara marble. Finally, this small piece of lounge furniture rests on tapered legs, giving it a slender, graceful silhouette.
A decorative, refined and functional piece, this small piece of lounge furniture will easily find its place in a classic interior as well as in a more contemporary setting, where it will add a note of timeless elegance.
