Antique Yemeni Bedouin Labbeh Silver Bib Necklace Traditional Tribal Jewelry

An antique silver labbeh necklace, a traditional form of bridal ornament originating from Yemen or the Arabian Peninsula, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The necklace is constructed in a tiered, bib-style format and is composed of high-grade silver. The upper section consists of a horizontal band of interconnected square and rectangular plaques featuring raised geometric filigree and granulation work. Suspended from this header are multiple horizontal rows of components. These include hand-soldered silver jump rings, hollow tubular silver beads, and "mulberry" style granules created through traditional metal-smithing techniques. The lower tiers feature a series of suspended, hollow, bell-shaped pendants and small silver drops that create a fringe effect. Each component is individually linked, allowing the structure to remain flexible and drape against the chest or chin when worn. The metal exhibits a natural aged patina with visible oxidation in the recessed areas of the filigree. This piece is presented in a custom wooden frame with a dark matte background and a decorative textured textile backing. The frame measures approximately 53 by 41 cm, and the necklace (30 x 15 cm) is secured internally for display.
