19th Century School, In The Style Of Jean-antoine Watteau (1684-1721) The Concert
Nineteenth-century school, in the taste of Jean-Antoine Watteau (1684-1721)
Le Concert
Charming composition inspired by the poetic world of Watteau's fêtes galantes, depicting a group of young figures gathered around a musical scene.
In the foreground, a young woman dressed in a light satin dress is seated, holding sheet music in her hands. Behind her stands an elegant female figure wearing a broad hat. To the right, a young musician in shimmering costume tunes or plays a theorbo, while a child in the center of the composition observes the scene with vivacity. The ensemble stands out against a clear sky, in a delicate, refined atmosphere imbued with grace and lightness.
The subtle palette, dominated by pastel tones, as well as the softness of the modeling and the elegance of the attitudes, directly evoke Jean-Antoine Watteau's compositions and the rococo spirit of the 18th century.
Presented in a very fine 18th-century carved and gilded wood frame, which perfectly enhances the composition.
