A Four-panel Folding Screen With Pheasant And Cherry Tree
A four-panel screen with a gold ground depicting a pheasant perched on a rocky outcrop beside a blossoming cherry tree, whose branches intertwine with autumnal maple leaves; a sparrow rests at the top of the sinuous trunk.
The iconography recalls the celebrated composition by Kanō Sansetsu (1589–1651), particularly the 1631 painting known as Frolicking Birds in Plum and Willow Trees.
The screen is finished with silk borders and a wooden frame.
Signed in the lower right corner.
Period: Shōwa period, mid-20th century.

Condition: The screen is in very good condition with some signs of wear to the lacquered frame.
