Oil on canvas depicting a dramatic wolf-hunting scene in Imperial Russia. A group of heavily clad men, armed with rifles and sabers, are loaded onto a sleigh pulled at high speed by a troika (three-horse) team. The group, presumably peasants or Cossacks, is engaged in a hunt for a predator, represented by a pack of wolves appearing in the background, in an escalating narrative tension.

The scene, taken in a snowy winter landscape, is vividly vivid. The horses are captured in expressive gallop, and the figures are painted with naturalistic care, worthy of the Russian academic tradition of the 19th century. The background is treated with a finesse reminiscent of the St. Petersburg school or the works of Franz Roubaud or Nikolai Sverchkov, famous for their equestrian and hunting scenes.
