Large oil on canvas signed upper left by Georges Jean Baptiste Hébert (1837-1904) and dated 1880.
Painting exhibited at the 1881 Salon (on the reverse, number printed on the stretcher) , Salon in which the artist participated without interest from 1861 to 1882.
F.G.Dumas 1881 catalog found on Gallica ; painting entitled Maria Magdalena . I own the brass plate, a photo of which I'll be attaching shortly.
Pompier painting depicting the nude repentant Mary Magdalene at the foot of the cross.
Painting in good condition, perhaps needing cleaning (traces of yellowed varnish on the body)
