Empire Chair Monogram Tapestry Burns Perfume Antique Style De Jacob X 2
Pair of Empire walnut chairs with openwork backs in the Jacob taste circa 1800
Elegant pair of Empire period chairs in molded and carved walnut, resting on tapered front legs. The backrests feature an openwork design forming a stylized monogram enriched with palmettes and scrolls, directly inspired by the neoclassical vocabulary developed in Jacob's entourage in the early 19th century.
The slightly arched curve of the backrests softens the architectural rigor typical of the Empire style and creates a harmonious silhouette. The warm golden-brown patina of the walnut highlights the finesse of the carved work as well as the refinement of the ajours.
The seats retain their antique gros point tapestry in beautiful shades of olive yellow, powder pink and pearl gray. The central medallion features an Antique-inspired cassolette or perfume burner in the Empire taste. This decoration dialogues perfectly with the ornamental repertoire of the backrest and reinforces the decorative unity.
Condition: good overall structural and presentation condition. Old reinforcement added under the seat; Nice old patina. Wear and marks . See photographs.
