Georges Pelletier Large Ceramic Lamp, 80 Cm, Circa 1960 Vintage Design Interior Design
Large Georges Pelletier ceramic openwork lamp 1960s sculptural light
French ceramic lamp attributed to Georges Pelletier, circa 1960-1970. Beautiful piece with an openwork ovoid body extended by a long conical neck, resting on a solid base. The decoration consists of circular perforations and ogee-shaped openings, enhanced by organic elements added to the interior, creating a highly characteristic play of light. Enamel in shades of green, brown and beige, with a deliberately textured, vibrant surface.
The ensemble produces a double reading: functional lamp and veritable light sculpture. Light diffuses through both the lampshade and the body's ajours, generating highly decorative shadow and projection effects. This type of vocabulary is emblematic of Pelletier's work, at the crossroads of brutalism and an organic aesthetic inspired by the plant and the solar.
The piece stands out for its verticality and presence. The long collar refines the silhouette and balances the mass of the body, while apertures punctuate the surface and give life to the light. The material is assertive, almost telluric, with a focus on texture and light diffusion. This is a work in which function is partially erased in favor of a true plastic intention.
Good overall condition. Some irregularities, roughness inherent to manufacture and time. Electrical system to be checked according to use.
