Fali Doll Early XX ° Century
Here's a doll from northern Cameroon made by the FALIS, who are renowned for their beaded dolls on a wooden core. When a young man gets engaged, he makes a doll (Ham Pilu), decorating it with hair, beads and small objects.
He then gives it to his fiancée, who wears it in a baby carrier on her back, the doll being the symbol of their future marriage and children to come.
The man gives his doll the sex he wishes for his first-born "here there's no doubt".
