Cabinet. Produced By Carlo Zen, 1902
A masterful architectural design—extremely modern for its time—characterizes this piece of furniture, featuring overlapping straight or curved sloping planes with surfaces that may be smooth, fluted, or inlaid. The furniture’s architectural design is complemented by the precious marbled mahogany that covers it.
The floral inlays are made of maple wood with mother-of-pearl inserts, contained within a square section and connected by mahogany bands. The same floral motif is rendered in chiseled bronze on the handle plate. The interiors are made of oak.
