Pair Of Medicis Vases Porcelaine De Paris , Chinoisant , Asie Vers 1830 , Troubadour XIXe
Antique pair of Louis-Philippe-period Paris porcelain vases, circa 1830.
This elegant pair of pedestal vases features a remarkable polychrome decoration dominated by an intense cobalt blue enhanced by rich fine gold gilding.
The reserves are decorated with Orientalist scenes inspired by Japanese Imari porcelain, depicting characters, exotic birds, foliage and imaginary architectures in the Far Eastern taste very much in vogue at the beginning of the 19th century.
The particularly original shape of these vases is fully in keeping with the troubadour style then in favor under the Restoration.
The stylized anthropomorphic handles and the large gilded cabochons in relief give the ensemble a neo-gothic style.
The moved necks with scalloped rims are highlighted with gilded floral decoration, while the square bases also receive fine scenes painted in blue and gold tones.
This refined production is characteristic of the Parisian manufactures known as "Old Paris", whose creations rivaled the finest European decorative porcelain at the time.
Height: 24.5 cm.
