Paul LOUCHET was born in Paris in 1854. He died in 1936. A pupil of Jules Lefebvre and Harpignies, he exhibited at the Paris Salon. His works are delicate and simply composed. Close to nature, he appreciated forests, trees, twilight and light variations. In this Alpine painting, a rocky peak dominates a line of sunlit chalets. The painting dates from the early 20th century, dixit another painting entitled "La maison en montagne" dated 1913. Paul Louchet is listed in the "Bénézit" as well as in Gérald Shurr and Pierre Cabanne's "Petits Maîtres de la peinture" dictionary. With its wooden frame, the dimensions are 41 cm x 33 cm.
