Painter's biography
Hector Viger (1819-1879), also known as Victor Viger duVigneau, was a nineteenth-century French painter specializing in portraits,genre scenes and history paintings. A pupil of Martin Drolling, PaulDelaroche and Henri Lehmann, he exhibited at the Salon from 1845.
Recognized under the Second Empire, he producedNapoleonic history and worked at the Château de Malmaison with theMalmaison with the authorization of Napoleon III. His work is appreciated for theportraits, the quality of his drawings and the elegance of hiscompositions.
