Maurice Walter Edmond Labattde Lambert dit Maurice de Lambert (1873-1952), French illustrator, painter,decorator and engraver. A student of Gustave Moreau and Georges-AntoineRochegrosse, he began illustrating with illuminations for two booksworks: La Légende du Beau by Victor Hugo and Le Chevalier double by ThéophileGautier. He designed the sets for several Montmartre shows. He producesfor the publisher Manzi, a large number of full-length portraits of actors: SarahBernhardt, Sacha Guitry, Réjane, etc. His paintings are often exhibited in Parisand abroad. Lambert was also interested in the art of typography,designing vignettes for Grasset typefaces.
