Horse-drawn Carriage Ride
Artist: Urbain Huchet 1930-2014
A very original oil on canvas measuring 22cm x 27cm plus a quality frame measuring 35cm x 40cm. The painting, partially impastoed, depicts strollers with horse-drawn carriages in the background. Signed lower left "Huchet" and on the edge "Urbain Huchet," born in Rennes on April 28, 1930, and died in Boulogne-Billancourt on December 16, 2014, he was a French painter and lithographer. He lived in Pont-Aven from 1960 to 1963 before settling in Boulogne-Billancourt. After studying law and working in the textile industry, Urbain Huchet, a self-taught artist, decided in 1960 to devote himself exclusively to painting. He then lived for three years in Pont-Aven, painting landscapes, seascapes, lively scenes, and portraits of distinctive characters, revealing his admiration for Paul Gauguin and Émile Bernard, before settling in the Paris region in 1963 and traveling to the Middle East and especially the Americas (Brazil, Peru, Mexico, the Caribbean, Texas).
