Single-shot rimfire vest pocket pistol manufactured from 1865 to 1871 by E.Allen & Co Workcester Mass, Massachusetts. Black bronzed steel barrel, marked on the side "E. ALLEN & CO WORCESTER MASS. ALLEN'S PAT MCH.7.1865", rotating barrel system, functional trigger mechanism. Nickel-plated steel body, bakelite stock wood.
This type of Derringer represents an iconic self-defense weapon of the early American post-Civil War years, which was enjoyed by gentlemanly gentlemen, gamblers, ladies of high society, as well as ladies-in-waiting, lawmen and outlaws.
Rare in these preservation conditions after 150 years.
