An exceptional and imposing pair of cobalt-blue glazed porcelain covered urns, richly adorned with finely cast and mercury-gilt bronze mounts (ormolu). Each vase is surmounted by a domed lid with acorn finial, above a baluster-shaped body encircled by elaborate scrolling friezes and dramatic ram’s head handles with sweeping horns. The lower body is embellished with acanthus leaf mounts, resting on elegant waisted socles and shaped square bases with inset blue porcelain panels. The striking contrast between the deep royal blue porcelain and the luminous gilded bronze creates a highly decorative and luxurious appearance, characteristic of the finest Parisian decorative arts.
