Vintage West German "Fat Lava" ceramic floor lamp, 1960s/70s
A magnificent example of Mid-Century Modern design, this extra-high floor lamp features a vibrantly colored "Fat Lava" ceramic base and its original textured fabric tower shade. The base features a spectacular volcanic glaze, with earthy brown tones and bright orange accents, forming a vertical pattern reminiscent of bark or drips - characteristic of high-quality West German ceramics, such as those by Scheurich, Bay or Dumler & Breiden.
The oversized cylindrical shade is crafted from a coarsely woven linen/jute fabric in a warm cream hue, adorned with an embroidered frieze of floral motifs. This floor lamp diffuses soft ambient light and makes a bold centerpiece for any Mid-Century Modern, retro or eclectic interior.
Foot: Excellent vintage condition. No significant cracks or chips visible on the ceramics.
Abat-jour: In very good vintage condition, with light wear normal for its age. The embroidered frieze is intact.
Wiring: Original European-style cord with built-in foot switch.(Note: As with any vintage electronic device, it is recommended that you have it checked and rewired by a professional to comply with current safety standards).

Shipping
Our main depot is located in Montpellier, in the south of France. Most of our items are shipped from this site.
For small items weighing less than 20 kg and measuring 180 cm in circumference (width + height x 2), the package measures approximately 50 x 30 x 40 cm.
Delivery within 7 to 14 days, depending on your location.
Customs charges may apply to your package and will be payable on delivery. Please contact our dedicated team for more information prior to your purchase.
Bulky items to the UK and EU
These items are shipped by our partner carriers, who operate between the UK, France and Spain. We aim to deliver these items within 2-4 weeks. We can also ship to other EU countries, but delivery times vary.

Bulky items - International shipping
We will need your full address to obtain an accurate quote from our carriers.
Once all charges have been agreed, we will arrange packing and crating if required.
Your shipment will then be handed over to our forwarding partners in the UK and embarked on the next vessel.
The shipping time varies between 2 and 4 weeks depending on your destination.
If you don't have a customs broker to handle customs duties (you may owe taxes on your purchase) and paperwork, our forwarding partners can assist you with this.
These deliveries abroad can take between 4 and 8 weeks.
Insurance
For any shipment that has been covered by additional insurance, in the event of damage occurring during transport, you must imperatively report it immediately to the recipient's carrier and to us so that we can initiate the claims procedure.
Returns
In the unlikely event that you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact us within 3 days of receipt to arrange a return and refund.
Returns must be made in the original packaging.
