Biography:
Iwan Cerf was a Belgian painter, draughtsman and printmaker born in Verviers in 1883 and died in Paris in 1963. Trained at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts in Liège, he pursued his career early on in Paris, then a major center of European artistic creation, where he settled as early as 1901 and attended the Académie Julian in particular.
An active artist on the Parisian scene between the wars, he exhibited regularly at the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Artistes Français as well as the Salon des Tuileries. His work covers still life, portraits, nudes, genre scenes and landscapes.
