Pair Of Burmese Panels Lacquered Black Red Green Burma 1950 Décor

Artist: école Birmane

Pair of decorative panels from Burma, mid-20th century, in black, red and green lacquer.

The highly graphic decoration seems to depict scenes from mythology or traditional Burmese imagination, with characters, narrative attitudes and rhythmic composition. The whole presents a beautiful decorative force, between refined folk art, temple panel or ornamental element intended for the interior.

The interest here lies in the powerful contrast between the dark background and the red and green highlights, which structure the scene with real visual intensity.

Good overall condition. Please note: a small chip/missing in the lower right-hand corner of one of the panels. Normal age-related wear. See photos.

Dimensions: each panel approx. 38 x 30 cm
