French Silver Drageoir With Cobalt-blue Glass Lining, Gilded Interior, Cahors/toulouse
with a removable cobalt-blue glass lining and gold-plated interior. The lid is topped by a finely molded swan finial and flanked by side handles. The body is richly decorated with carved motifs depicting shells and dolphins. The foot bears several hallmarks: the double-L Parisian charge mark (1783-1789) under the fermier général Henri Clavel, a Parisian charge mark (1756-1762) under Éloi Brichard, and the community mark depicting a seated dog for Cahors/Toulouse (in use from 1784 to 1789). The lid and body also bear the Swedish import mark "Tre Kronor" with an "S", in use since 1912, indicating a later import to Sweden. The cobalt-blue glass lining shows a small chip along the top edge, invisible from the outside.
