Christian Nonne Volkstedt Porcelain Spring And Autumn Pair C.1780–1800
An elegant pair of German hard-paste porcelain allegorical figures from the Christian Nonne period at Volkstedt, produced circa 1780–1800. Most likely representing Spring and Autumn from a Four Seasons series, these figures embody one of the most refined phases of late 18th-century German porcelain.
The cream-toned body, hand-painted floral ornament, restrained gilding and antique-inspired drapery combine with balanced modelling and highly detailed faces to create a pair of remarkable decorative and artistic quality.
Under Christian Nonne, Volkstedt established a highly influential figure tradition whose finest works remain prized by collectors.
The undersides bear the underglaze blue crossed-forks mark associated with the historic Volkstedt manufactory, together with impressed model numbers.
A rare and historically resonant pair from the golden period of Volkstedt porcelain.
